Display boxes and Dioramas

     From my garage display which I made to demonstrate how my automatic remote controlled garage door works to the simplest set of display boxes from Houseworks; there are lots of different styles, designs and sizes of display units out there.  They can all be electrified or even set up with remote controls but first one needs to have an idea as to what they will be doing with that particular display box.  Here are a couple of units I have made or customized from existing boxes.

Hatbox Display

     A very light weight display unit.  It is made from Gatorboard and trimmed with hardwood.  The front piece is a single piece of bent plastic.  It makes a very roomy, open and versatile display piece.  It measures 15” x 15” x 12”.  The basic box, primed only, sells for $85.00.  The front edge can be trimmed with any hardwood and can be painted or stained.  One can design any number of possibilities to add to this box and I would be pleased to give you a quote for additional pieces.  A second floor balcony or room dividers have all been done.  A wraparound stairway might look nice too.

    I made two of these 4-sided displays for the purpose of displaying 1” and 1/2” furniture at the trade shows I went to.  I now have them in storage wanting to be adopted by someone needing a large revolving display.  These units are fully electrified and revolve a full 360 degrees.  The rooms would probably need to be redecorated but the displays themselves are in good condition and I will see that all the electrical is in working order and will be glad to clean off some of my sale items.  There are over $300.00 worth of electrical LEDs and special lighting in each display.  If you are interested in one or both of these displays please make me an offer.  I would hate for them not to be used by someone.  Take a look at some of the details in the rooms.  The pictures were taken at one of my shows the last year I used them.  The second display is the same but upside down to the first display.

Cedar Rustic Structure

     This is my Cedar Rustic Structure.  It was made as a simple basic unit that could be used for a number of display themes.  I was asked to put it together for a club project.  It is constructed from ruff cut cedar boards and on a simple plywood base  This display box cold be used for a number of different themes.  A stable, fruit and vegetable stand, or even a Christmas Cresche.  I do not usually stock this display box so expect about a two week order time.  Overall dimensions 16” x 9” x 10”

Park Shelter

Custom Made Displays

     This display was custom designed from the actual Park Shelter shown to the left.  My display is a miniature of the shelter in Memorial Park, New Castle, Indiana.  An individual was having a family reunion celebrating the 65th wedding anniversary of their parents.  They had this model created to give to their parents.  The shelter was similar to where they were engaged 65 years earlier.  I had some fun with this as it has one of my flickering Log ‘n flames in the fireplace and the chimney even put off smoke.  It is fully electrified as you can see in the picture below.

Club Project

     Another custom designed display but this was made as a sample.  A club wanted a kit to create different displays from.  I made this gatorboard basic design with some basic instructions for completion.  These pictures are of my sample.  It is light enough to hang from a nail on a wall or set most anywhere.  If you are interested in ideas for your club, please give me a call or send me an E-mail.  See if we can come up with a unique idea for your club.

    My sample, pictured at the left, is available for sale if you would like it.  I spent some time trying to age it.  The for sale sign has my number if you have any questions.  I will send the instruction sheet for clubs to use (if I can find a copy) along with it.
